The Japanese post office invests in an electric fleet

Further enterprises are increasingly willing to invest in the electric fleet. One of the brands that will replace vehicles powered by internal combustion engines is Japan Post, which is the Japanese equivalent of Poczta Polska. Mitsubishi has announced the company's investment and will provide its Minicab-MiEV vans. The information is interesting, because not so long ago we reported about a similar move on the part of ... Poczta Polska, which decided to buy electric Nissan e-NV200. So it looks like post offices are eager to invest in the electric fleet.

1,200 Mitsubishi electric vehicles will be put into service by Japan Post by the end of March 2021. Japanese Post decided to use the Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV delivery model for postal and courier services. Before deployment in the units, the vehicles will be painted red, and the image of the bear mascot will appear on the body.

In order to protect the environment, the company, wholly owned by the Japan Post Holdings Co. holding company, will begin replacing delivery vehicles with combustion engines by a fleet of electric cars, mainly in Tokyo and urban areas. Currently, Japanese Post Office owns about 30,000 small vans used for courier services and deliveries. By the end of March 2020, 400 electric vehicles out of the announced total number of 1,200 copies will be operational. At the end of March 2021, electric cars should account for around 4% of the entire postal fleet.
